After dodging the authorities here in the County of Kings for almost a year, we finally had to throw up our hands & do what The Man demands.
So, Mazel tov! Since it’s a celebration, we’re poppin’ bottles of non-alcoholic Martini & Rossi (asti spumonti) over here. And we’re also hoping this won’t get the IRS sniffing around.
It’s approaching time for one of Eleven’s West Coast runs. You can check all the details over there, but here’s the short version:
Sunday, Sept 5th – Cannonball w/ Thee Mike B & Fashen
Tues, Sept 7th – Twin Tuesdays w/ Evil One (Twin #2 Steve1der is in NYC)
Thurs, Sept 9th – AFEX w/ Evil One (head honcho Adam 12 is in Brazil)
Friday, Sept 10th – Eve Lounge w/ Sake 1 & J Boogie
Saturday, Sept 11th – Wet San Jose
Sunday, Sept 12th – Major w/ Mpenzi & jsight
There might also be a couple of unannounced things thrown in there for good measure. But, you’ll have to check him at http://twitter.com/djeleven to find out about those.
Continuing in the tradition of his collab with 11 Inch Records player/president Jose Once, Mike Baker drops another gem about his plumbing skills over a beat by the homie Vinroc. But this time, Mike ups the ante with visuals from everyone’s favorite ’70′s soft-core pornographer filmmaker, the one & only Russ Meyer. (Ed note: Damn! Why didn’t we think of that!)
As I was typing “The R”, I got to thinking about how awesome a Rakim & R. Kelly collab would be. Both are mythical recluses. Both have run afoul of the law. Both go by The R. Well, I guess that’s where the similarities end. But, gotdam… I’d love it!
Hedpin put together this mix as a lead up to Rakim performing in Vancouver last week. And, man… He dug deep into Rakim’s catalog, pulled out all kinds of samples, including a couple interviews, and cold knocked it out the park!
DJ HEDSPIN X SHARKS AND HAMMERS PRESENTS: RAKIM – THE R MIXTAPE VOLUME 1.0

Mike 2600 is one of those dudes that it’s hard not to be jealous of: he’s a great designer, he’s a great DJ, and he’s a great producer. And, to top it off, he’s a super good dude. Fuzzy out rock isn’t usually my first choice, but Mike absolutely nails this mix. Grab it. Not now, but RIGHT NOW!
Mike 2600 “Electric Summer” Mix

Rob Pursey & I share a birthday and agree on almost everything about music. To say that Rob loves The Dream would be a huge understatement. Rob loves the Radio Killa so much that he almost always refers to him by first name. So, if you even kinda like Terius, you’ve got to listen to how a true Dream Lover hears him.

Summer is coming towards a close, but The Jaywalker homies from Oslo have nailed the feeling in a mix called “Santa Ana Winds”. White pants will be a thing of the past soon enough. But, you don’t wanna miss this:

Cathrine Howe – In The Hot Summer
Weldon Irwine – Morning Sunrise
The Jones Girls – Who Can I Run To
Leon Ware – Body Heat
Dexter Wansel – Theme From Planets
Roy Ayers – Searching
Cassiano – Onda
Shuggie Otis – Aht Uh Mi Hed
Faze-O – Riding High
Donald Byrd – (Fallin’ Like) Dominoes
Sly & The Family Stone – If You Want Me To Stay
Ethel Beatty – It’s Your Love
Lyn Christopher – Take Me With You
Demon Fuzz – Disillusioned Man
Syreeta – Black Maybe
Seals & Crofts – Summer Breeze
We here at the 11 Inch Records Central Committee are always excited when another phase of our (snail-paced) plan for world domination comes into play. This time, we’re thrilled to announce that we’ve joined the Beatport.com army of labels. (If you aren’t familiar with Beatport, they are THE online record store for dance music.) And we couldn’t be anymore excited!
If you haven’t bought them yet, or even if you need digital doubles, head on over to grab all of our releases:
